What’s up? Jaime Young of Sunday in Brooklyn and Will Horowitz of Ducks Eatery share their passion for foraging, and highlight the hyperlocal bounty of August in New York City.
Why you should go. In a world of locavores, freegans, and 100-mile diets, it is easy to miss the forest for the trees with seasonality and local food. We often walk past, or over, the most local of ingredients on our way to and from the latest farm-to-table restaurant, missing the simplest form of connection to our lived environment.
What is MOFAD?
Carved out from an old garage, this museum lab devotes itself entirely to exploring food, drink and culture. MOFAD has hosted several inspiring after-hours events including: An evening of Polish vodka, Chef Pierre Thiam on Senegalese Cuisine, Food writer Sarah Lohman, Michael Twitty’s African Roots in Southern Cuisine, Spice Master Lior Lev Sercarz of La Boîte NYC, and Éric Ripert and Alex Guarnaschelli.
